Cambodia is a beautiful country in southeast Asia bordering some popular countries like Thailand and Laos. In my opinion, Cambodia might be an underrated gem of Asia as it still remains vastly unexplored by mainstream tourism. Well, this can also work in favor for those who want to see some place that isn’t everyone on social media and not everyone has been to here.

Although it’s quite fun to visit a country like Cambodia for the first time, it can also be overwhelming to plan the travel itinerary for the same. Well, that’s exactly why you have landed on this page and you won’t be disappointed with the one week travel itinerary that I have made for you. Have a look at the following travel itinerary for Cambodia and make the most of your trip by visiting the best of the country.

Day 2: Witness the Sunrise At Angkor Wat

One of the must have experiences in Cambodia is to experience the Sunrise at Angkor Wat. This is one of the oldest Hindu temples in the country which is quite breathtaking and beautifully made. The place has a divine energy that can be felt in the air.

What you have to do is to get to the temple via a bicycle or a tuk tuk. Experience the beautiful sunrise from the temple and watch the lake view. Get your picture perfect shots here and explore the beauty of the temple.

There are many small temples to explore here and you can also grab some breakfast from the local shops.

Day 3: Witness Sunrise from Other Temples as well

If you are not a morning person, you should miss out on the opportunity to witness a beautiful sunrise in Cambodia. The temples give a quite serene view and it almost looks surreal how beautifully the temples are made.

Later on the day, take a food tour to taste the authentic delicacies of the country and city. Make sure you check out the market to do some shopping and take some souvenirs back home.

Day 4: Arrive at Phnom Penh

Next stop on your Cambodia itinerary is Phnom Phe. Phnom Phe is quite an interesting city that would certainly impress you with its vibrant culture and rich heritage. Here, too, you can take a walking tour to get to know about the culture, trading lifestyle and history of the place.

Make sure to stop at the street food stalls to try out the delicious food. Be cautious of how they cook the meat and if it is properly cooked to avoid any stomach issues later on.

The Tonle Sap River is quite an attraction among the tourists and locals where you can relax and chill. There is a riverside park nearby that would certainly be a place you want to explore.

Lastly, the night market is quite fun in the city so make sure to check it out along with the vibrant nightlife.

Day 5: Visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Killing Fields

For your next thing to do in Cambodia, you must take a tour of Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Killing Fields. These are an important part of the tragic history of the country and we must respect it enough to know about it. The museum was the school that was turned to a prison to hold the people and they were killed in the Killing Field. It not fun thing to do t certainly something we all should pay our respect to.

Later on, you can go for cafe hopping to try out diverse cuisines in the city and enjoy a relaxing evening strolling in the city.

Day 6: Visit Koh Rong to Get Some Beach Time

This country is also blessed with beautiful islands and there are quite many to explore so for your next stop, reach to Koh Rong. Koh Rong is one the beautiful islands that process seren beaches and some soothing vibe to it.

To get here, you will have to take a bus, taxi, or train to reach Sihanoukville, then take a ferry to reach Koh Rong. Once you have reached, start exploring the beach and indulge in drinks and dinner.

Day 7: Enjoy A Relaxing Day at Beach

Beaches are meant to be savored, so take the last day of your trip to enjoy the beach time. And it doesn’t have to cost too much money either. You can also try some adventurous activities like snorkeling or diving, there are tons of things to do here.

Day 8: Say Goodbye to Cambodia

It was a fun week but now it’s time to say your goodbyes. Reach to your destination where you have your depressing flights or trains from. Relax a bit and make sure to eat well at the end of your trip and head back home with lots of memories!
